Scalp Micropigmentation (also called Tricopigmentation) is an effective technique to camouflage scars on the scalp. Most scars on the scalp are due to previous Hair Transplants (FUE or FUT) but occasionally also from other trauma.
In most cases, we are able to blend the scar with the natural hair. This process is very advanced and should be treated very carefully by well-trained technicians.
Some scars due to their condition may not be suitable for micro-pigmentation. But this will be assessed by our technicians in the initial consultation in order to ascertain if the scar is able to be pigmentated. Most scars can be treated very effectively but we always need to make sure the scar tissue is stable. Scars must first be tested with only a few light microdots in order to assess the pigment differentiation as compared to dots in the surrounding tissue, this is essential in order to properly blend and camouflage the scar. In most cases, scar camouflage is very successful.
Prices are always determined for each client specifically. Every client is different and has specific needs. Therefore we recommend our clients to book a consultation to establish the cost for their treatment.
We do have a general structure for our prices which is based on the Norwood Scale and areas to be treated on the scalp. Prices vary from around €800 up to €1,600 and in the case of total alopecia this can be up to €2,000. Prices are calculated on an individual basis as most people have huge variations in hair loss and the areas to be covered can be very large or small depending on the individual.

Special care post-treatment products are included in the price.
This is probably the most asked question when it comes to Trico-Pigmentation (scalp micro-pigmentation). If you have ever had a tattoo before and you reckon the pain on a scale of 1-10, (10 being the most intense pain) was an 8 or a 9, then a Trico-Pigmentation treatment in comparison would be around, in my opinion, a 2 or a 3. A Tattoo is painful a Trico-Pigmentation treatment is not.
With my last session of Scalp Tricopigmentation, I actually found it to be very relaxing and almost fell asleep. That being said everyone has a slightly different level of pain thresh-hold. But even taking that into consideration most clients who have had the treatment do not think of it as being unbearably painful, and no one has ever stopped the treatment because of the pain. Speaking from my own experience I would go as far as to say that certain area’s have a little bit more of a “sting” than others, but overall the experience of a Trico-Pigmentation treatment is a relatively pain-free one.
Four years ago, in 2010, the Scalp Guru website decided to survey 100 customers who came from various ethnic groups and that had various physiques and ages to see how the pain would be rated by them. The highest value was a 7 and the lowest was a 2, the average value based on 100 customers was a 4.2.
Looking at the bigger picture most clients do not mind enduring some slight discomfort type of pain simply because they have set their goals to achieve and transform the way they look forever and in doing so they know they will regain their lost confidence and they will no longer to have to carry the burden and anxiety associated with hair loss.
